Burial Services

Woodward Cremation and Funeral Services prides itself on helping families through a difficult time. We proudly service all cemeteries in the greater Daytona Beach area and beyond including Daytona Memorial Park, Volusia Memorial, Cape Canaveral National Cemetery, and many others. We will work with any cemetery to coordinate a burial and help you every step of the way to ensure we honor your loved ones final wishes. There are different services that you can choose for a loved one’s burial, depending upon your individual needs and preferences:

  • Immediate burial means that your loved one will be buried or entombed without a public service or gathering.
  • Visitation, also called a viewing, wake, or calling hours, allows family and friends to gather in a room with the departed loved one in an open or closed casket and say goodbye or offer their support and sympathy to the bereaved.
  • Funeral or memorial services can take place at our Daytona Beach or Ormond Beach funeral home, in a church, or even at your home. The service is a ceremony which serves to celebrate, honor, and remember the life of the deceased. Whether traditional or unique, both the visitation and the funeral service can be personalized to reflect the individuality of your loved one. For more information, visit our page on personalization.
  • Graveside, chapel, or committal services are held at the cemetery, and allow family and friends to be present as their loved one is transferred to his or her final disposition through ground burial.

Cremation Services

If you are interested in cremation you can rest assured your loved one will remain in our care, as we own and operate our own crematory in Daytona Beach. Cremation has grown in popularity over the last several years as a way to honor the life of a loved one. With so many options our family is here to help you plan with your loved one’s final wishes. We offer several low cost cremation options including:

  • Simple, Direct Cremation is a cremation performed with no services. Our package includes everything from the transportation into our care, use of climate control facility before cremation, process of cremation and returning the cremains back to the family in a temporary container, filing the permit, and certified death certificate.
  • Private Family Visitation with Cremation allows a family to say a private goodbye to their loved one before they are cremated. Everything that is included for a direct cremation is also included in this package. The private family viewing is done at a scheduled time at our funeral home and can be done in lieu of or in addition to a memorial service or service of rememberance.
  • Celebration of Life is a gathering of friends and family to celebrate the life of a loved one. This can be done at our Ormond Beach or Daytona Beach funeral home, a church, or another place in the community. The family has the options to have a urn, the cremains, a picture of their loved one, or a combination of all three present to customize their service. The services included in a direct cremation are also included in this package.
  • Memorial Service is a more traditional term but similar to a Celebration of Life Service. It is a scheduled time at the family's choosing to have a service to honor the life of their loved one. The services included in a direct cremation are also included in this package.
  • Rental Casket Visitation followed by Cremation allows the family, friends, and public time to say goodbye to their loved one. This is a gathering that allows a family to spend time with their loved one prior to cremation. The services included in a direct cremation are also included in this package.
  • Traditional Cremation Service is similar to a Rental Casket visitation with the addition of a service prior to cremation. The service can be scheduled at our funeral home or at a church with an officiant. The services included in a direct cremation are also included in this package.
  • Anatomical Body Donation followed by Cremation is a partnership our funeral home has with local universities in the area. We work to coordinate with these universities to have your loved one driven to their university to have their body donated to science.

The biggest misconception about cremation is that there can't be a funeral service or visitation. This is absolutely not the case, and we encourage you to consider holding a memorial service to celebrate the life of the deceased as well. There are many options open to you when it comes to honoring your loved one's life. After the cremation and memorial services, there are a variety of choices for your loved one's final disposition:

  • Interment means that you'll bury or entomb your loved one's cremated remains, usually in an urn. This can be in a family plot, a memorial site, a cremation niche or urn garden, or in a variety of other indoor and outdoor locations. Ask our staff for a detailed list of interment possibilities.
  • Graveside services are similar to those celebrated alongside a traditional ground burial, in which loved ones are present at the burial of the cremated remains and honor the deceased through memorial prayers or other meaningful tributes.
  • Scattering allows you to spread your loved one's cremated remains in a memorial garden, a cemetery, over water, or across any other meaningful site. This can be done in a biodegradable or green urn. You also can choose to scatter some of the cremated remains and retain the rest in an urn for interment or another form of disposition.
  • Placing cremated remains in multiple urns allows family members who are separated by distance to each feel the comfort of having their loved one's final resting place in a nearby location. This could be in cremation jewelry such as a necklace, bracelet, or ring or in keepsake urns.
